ITVS Releases Digital Marketplace Survey

This spring, ITVS conducted a survey of independent documentary producers on their experiences in the quickly shifting digital marketplace. The recently completed the final report serves as a  snapshot of the digital market through the eyes of 400 producers on the front lines.

For those who work in media, the results reveal some things they may already know about the opportunities, challenges and choices these producers face.  Although everyone seems certain the digital marketplace will transform television forever, distribution online is limited and revenue rarer still.  For ITVS, however, this is the first time the organization has heard first hand from a wide sample of producers—both those that are ITVS funded and and those that aren't—on the deals they’ve made (or haven’t made) with a wide variety of online distribution players.

The survey has been useful to ITVS in both the day-to-day work carving out digital opportunities for producers and the organization's long range planning for the future.   ITVS hopes it will be useful—or at least interesting—to you as well.
