Patents, Copyrights and Knowledge Governance: The Next Four Years
As a new Administration takes office in Washington, and the European Union renews its institutions, what should the political agenda be for intellectual property and copyright issues?
This free two-day conference by the Transatlantic Consumers Dialogue (TACD) features internationally-recognized experts addressing these critical issues. The event is headlined by two Nobel Prize winners - Joseph Stiglitz and Eric Maskin.
Numerous advocacy efforts are being directed at higher standards and tougher enforcement of intellectual property rights, and there is growing interest among consumer groups, academics and innovative businesses to protect the public domain and expand user rights. There is also interest in exploring newer approaches to the support of creative and inventive communities, that do not rely on notions of exclusive rights.
Other scheduled speakers include Gigi Sohn and Sherwin Siy of Public Knowledge, Gene Kimmelman of Consumers Union, and Jamie Love of Knowledge Ecology International.
