Date:
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 - 5:30pm - 8:00pm
Location:
New York, NY

As part of Philanthropy New York’s Documentary Film Series, on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, they will be screening Smile Pinki, which is an Oscar-winning documentary that follows a five-year-old girl who was born in rural India desperately poor and with a cleft lip. The simple surgery that can cure her is a distant dream until she meets Pankaj, a social worker traveling village to village, gathering patients for a hospital that provides free surgery to thousands each year.

After the screening, Smile Pinki’s award-winning filmmaker Megan Mylan will join Katy Chevigny, Executive Director of Arts Engine, in a panel discussion. The discussion will be moderated by Vincent Stehle, Program Director, Nonprofit Sector, from the Surdna Foundation.

Philanthropy New York hopes you will pass this invitation along to your members and network of colleagues. The event is free while space is available. They encourage attendees to bring along guests. For more information about the screening, please visit the event website.
