Wider Recognition of Innovative “Ushahidi” Project

UshahidiUshahidi has been receiving wide attention in the wake of the Haiti and Chile earthquakes as an innovative program for plotting crowd-sourced information during times of crisis.  This article in Newsweek's Techtonic Shifts blog provides an overview of Ushahidi's deployment in those disasters and its possible future development.

GFEM first came into contact with Ushahidi through a 2008 program developed with Africa Grantmakers' Affinity Group.  Ushahidi has since been featured at Netsquared, and has continually been held up as an example of the possible uses of technology for the public good.  For more on Ushahidi and the Haiti earthquake, visit this article at gfem.org.
