Join ZeroDivide for Free at Netroots Nation 2010 Conference

ZeroDivide, in partnership with Netroots Nation, is hosting a competition to send 12 individuals to the upcoming Netroots Nation 2010 Conference July 22-25 in Las Vegas.  Their goal is to increase the number of voices from communities of color and other underrepresented communities in the progressive blogosphere as well as to diversify the participants at the conference.
 
Each year, the Netroots Nation Conference provides a way to plug into the progressive online community and learn valuable organizing tactics - while being inspired to act and grow new ideas to effect change.  At the conference you’ll meet leading policy and social media specialists, participate in panel discussions with national and international experts, view a progressive film screening series and plug into the most concentrated gathering of progressive bloggers to date.

This competition is only open to individuals from former and current ZD grantees and ZeroDivide Fellows.
 
They're looking for 12 people who are:
    •    Representative of people of color or other communities under-represented in media content
    •    Active in producing media content utilizing social media tools (such as blogs, podcasts, v-casts, social networking sites)
    •    Willing to enthusiastically participate in at least 20 hours worth of activities prior to, during, and following the conference.  These activities will include, but are not limited to, group calls, webinars and blogging
    •    Willing to directly apply the skills and learnings gained at Netroots Nation to their organization’s media efforts
    •    Ready to have fun!
 
To be considered for the award you must meet all of the following criteria:
    •    Be a current or past grantee/ZFellow (any class)
    •    Represent an underserved community
    •    Work with/connected to an organization that produces media content with the intent of increasing the voice of underserved communities
    •    Actively use social media (i.e. blogger, video producer, etc. for yourself, your organization, and/or cause)
    •    Desire to connect with other content producers and gain new media skills
    •    Will contribute fresh ideas and energy to the ZeroDivide Community
 
Selection of the awardees will be based on the:
    •    Demonstrated interest and participation in an underserved community
    •    Commitment to ZeroDivide and Netroots Nation’s values of diverse media content
    •    Demonstrated use of (and skill with) social media to promote positive social change
    •    Interest in learning how to leverage new social media techniques to increase the voice and representation of underserved communities online
    •    Interest and ability to participate in the Netroots Nation community long-term
    •    Desire to use social media to promote issues of concern for underserved communities
 
Awardees will receive a free conference registration, as well as travel and hotel accommodations.
