Emerging Trends in Youth Media, Youth Development, and Social Change
Last month, Global Action Project, People’s Production House/Radio
Rootz and Youth Rights Media held a panel event at the Surdna
Foundation regarding the cutting-edge potential of social
justice-focused youth media to scale the impacts of youth development
and youth organizing. They were amazed by the turnout and have issued a summary of key presentation points (please see
the attached Word document).
Their purpose in doing the briefing, and in continuing the dialogue, is to
critically explore innovative practices that can inform a cross-section
of fields to benefit young people using art and strategy to make
serious change.
In addition, if you would
like a copy of “Investing in Youth Media: A Guide for Grantmakers,”
produced by Open Society Institute and distributed by Grantmakers in
Film and Electronic Media, please feel free to request one from Meghan McDermott, Executive Director at Global Action Project.
